I Am Weak

I made it to April. But I have failed. Resolution Number 1 is no more.

I suck.

But look at them...are they not darling?

Even Tallulah wants to try them on. Look, she's putting her paw in for a little walkabout.

And you can't ever find Faryl Robins for how little I paid. You just can't. It's unheard of.

I toyed with the idea of not telling you. But the guilt has overwhelmed. You have no idea the feeling of failure that washed over me as I handed the lady my Captial One No Hassle Miles credit card that sparkles if you hit the light just right. No idea. It was crushing.

But they're lovely, aren't they?

They are perfect. The tiny happy birds flit about the cherry branches, making me happy and all warm inside. And they're not even mine.

The big confession, eh? They are beautiful. I just bought some Jack Purcell knockoffs at Ross for $14.99. Whoopdeedoo.

You cannot be expected to give up shoes entirely. You have to wear SOMETHING, after all. It may as well be something stylish.

You have a cat named Talluluah?? That's the cutest thing I've heard all week. Maybe you could show us more than her paw sometime....

jen - you should know, you strong-armed me ever so gently into it.

sarah - yes...that is how unexciting my life is. alas.

jill - I blog about Tallulah Bankhead II all the time! here:

And I'm sure somewhere else...but I can't be bothered to find that right now. Nor can I be bothered with figuring out how to hotlink those. Sorry.

It's about time you confessed, miss resolution-breaker. That's why I don't make resolutions, so I don't have to break them. But you did so now you have to be punished and I say your punishment should be that I get to wear those fabulous shoes for the rest of the year. Hand em over...

They look a bit scrawny to me. I think I'd prefer to see you bare-footed.

Yes, they are a pair of shoes alright. As a matter of fact, they are the shoeiest shoes I've seen in several days. I like the way they just have “shoe” written all over them so you don’t even have to wonder. If I were in the market for shoes, I would not buy those but I can see why you did.

If I were the competing sort, I'd say I've won and you've lost since I continue to keep going with my resolutions but far be it from me to rub your face in it, or maybe it's your feet. Cute or not, you lose!

Pretty pretty. If only boys understood the whole shoe thing then I wouldn't have to be so convincing as to why I "need" another pair of shoes. The fact that estrogen is pumping fiercely through my body is enough for me to "need" shoes.

Very nice looking shoes. But what the hell is wrong with women and shoes?! Don't answer, please. Just what the fuck, is all!

kara said...

laura - you made a resolution not to have a resolution! you broke your resolution TOO! and no...you can't have them. but if you're nice, and let me squish my nephew...you may borrow them.

goranas - believe you me, sir, that is NOT a pretty site. i do have some deliciously deformed feet. thankyouverymuchMOTHER!

slag - you have such an insight into women...it's astounding.

future - see my comment to goranas!

kendra - no shit, eh? forget just having the estrogen...we should get a pair of shoes for every week we have a goddamn period!

orhan - oh i'll answer alright...none of your business! i kid.

I don't get women's shoe addiction either. Currently, I own 7 pairs of shoes:

2 for Work: 1 is really business dress formal and the other is just black and more comfy/casual
2 for casual/sports: 1 hiker and 1 plain canvas that's comfy as well
1 for running
1 for playing squash
1 for playing tennis.
FUNCTION JUNCTION!
Oh and do any of you women own a shoe/foot mirror? If so, do you think if you didn't own one that perhaps you would be able to allocate more time towards productive activities rather than that of staring at your shoes by using a mini vanity plate?

AxAtlas said...

Oh wait I forgots. Women own several pairs of shoes b/c they have several different outfits...we men have it so easy when it comes to clothes...and other things like career and...a woman here suggested that I listen to some Ani now.

kara said...

ax - ok, you're lame for having that many different sport-related shoes. so there.

Ah, this is the confession. I've been a bit scattershot at visiting blogs this week - children need mothering apparently, which I hadn't allowed for - so I missed this.

I like 'em. However, you didn't tell us how much you paid for them so I'm afraid I can't help ameliorate any lingering guilt you may have about them.

Oh Shoes..I LOVE shoes...It's so sad, the other day I was in the Nine West store and I actually found myself sweating and breathing hard immediately before purchasing 3 pairs...I need help, but at least I'll look cute in my group therapy session!!
