A Little of Yesterday...A Little of Today

There's nothing sadder than seeing a person with a droopy mohawk. Bless their little anti-establishment hearts for trying, but when will these kids realize...it's just not a summer coif.

Yeah, that wasn't much of a hiatus. But I got off work early, bought a belt, walked Diamond Joe Quimby (my chocolate lab nephew) and downed a vodka/tonic (bless my
well-stocked waif and bro-in-law) and am practically out the door to meet amy g. for a little Superbad at Cinemagic (local kick ass cheapish theater from the 50s), so I'm feeling a bit better.

Thank you for your kind words. I never know how to address such things. Kind words fall into the same category as compliments for me. I don't really know how to take them, so usually I spew forth some unconsciously sarcastic retort and then pause as I feel the self-loathing rise from where it lies dormant around my hips up through my chest and into my throat in the form of bile.

Ok, maybe that was a bit dramatic...but whatevs...I'm pooped.

**update even though I never posted this last night**

Superbad
was glorious. This kid (Michael Cera - seen below) has been one of my favorite people on earth since the pilot episode of Arrested Development. This is who needs to be a goodwill ambassador to the U.N....not shitty actors like Angelina Jolie. Someone needs to get on that.

It's beautiful today, I'm going outside.

So you're an Arrested Development fan then? Interesting. I've only seen one episode. Do you think it's better than Curb your Enthusiasm?

There must be a good insult to shout at kids with mohawk haircuts. "Loobrush!" or something.

Ahh, George Michael....

Michael: What do you think of when you hear the word Sudden Valley?

George Michael: Salad dressing, I think. But for some reason, I don’t want to eat it.

Michael: Right. But Paradise Gardens...?

George Michael: Yeah. Okay, I can... I can see marinating a chicken in that.

Arrested Development is pure genius! The fact that it's filmed in me ol' home town of Newport Beach, Calif is just a cherry on top. The writing is hysterical!
And Superbad is a-stinking-amazing!
The scene with the bad cell phone reception nearly had me in diapers.
Sweet Geezus!

I'm sorry, but it is going to be hard watching that movie without thinking of George Michael, Tobias Funke and Gob Blueth.

I thought the movie was hilarious but it at a few points it dragged just a wee bit. Obviously they're going to have a sequel and it will probably be way better than this one...way!

I looooved Superbad.

The only bad thing about seeing it was having to go with my mother (don't ask why). And she obviously has no sense of humor because she only laughed ONE time throughout the whole movie.

Obviously not a movie for mothers, I'll take that under advisement. I wonder if this pic of George Michael (I can't hear that name and see this face for the life of me..."Faith") taken while he was standing in the entryway of his parent's home was considered to be flattering in any way? Instead, he looks like he is ready to break out in a cold sweat, waiting to see if what he just said was socially acceptable or not. What is he, 12?

Hey Kara,
If you hadn't heard, James band will be playing again this coming Thursday night at The Ash Street Saloon at 6PM.
Hope you can make it.

I can't wait to see Superbad. I loved Knocked Up so much that I can't imagine not loving this one too. Although, going to Knocked Up, while knocked up was pretty humorous in itself. And Kara, you're really pretty. Take that compliment and SHOVE it!

goranas - i LOVE that show and highly recommend it. i will say that it is the type of show that needs to be started with ep. 1 and followed in order. as for it relating to Curb, it's actually much smarter. the writing is so witty that it's almost impossible to catch all the jokes with a single viewing. Curb is a lot more obvious, and it's kind of the same shtick over and over (though hilarious).

fro - you and i need to start a nerdy fan club.

sue - oh lord...i loved it. he's got such an innocent face, it makes the filth he's spewing forth twice as hysterical.

or - believe me, it just makes it better.

ax - well, you can't always get what you want.

future - i think 'knocked up' will be more your style.

jim - i totally think i could make that. it's really close to work, i'll just walk down after i release myself from my corporate restraints.

sarah - with what shall i shove it? and where shall it be shoved?

macoosh - so nice to have you in my country once more. i can't do a mohawk. i simply cannot. i don't have enough hair. it's tragic.

yea, i'd never be able to rock a mohawk. i'm totally going for dreads someday...me thinks when i'm about 80 so it'll be funnier.

i saw superbad tonight. ummmmmm amazing.
