You Can Wear It OR Scour Pots and Pans!

A little background: We were not shopping for a dress for me. We were shopping in the fancy prom/cocktail/wedding dress boutique for my friend who must attend several formalish events this year. But within the racks, I found this.

This is a red dress made up entirely of tiny cloth roses with a texture similar to Brillo pads. And a bubble hem. In other words, it's hilarious. Wearing that dress is like being a mosquito drawn to a zap lamp. I know it might kill me, but I need to get as close as possible to it anyway. However, I can't bring myself to buy it. Opinions on the matter are split right down the middle at the office. I need you, perfect stranger, to make my decisions for me.

****UPDATE****
I forgot to mention that there's a bow in the back. You see my dilemma.

I'm the only vote so far...and the only vote that will ever matter.

You should wear them with those little slip on loafers that everyone has. Like a little pair of red with white polka dotted ones and a cute little button over swatch of matching fabric. Wait, I make no sense. I'll have to telepathically send you the image of the shoe, cause I'm obviously retarded when it comes to descriptions.

Is that really you? Your face looks totally different in profile, like an earnest girlie baby-face. The dress is perfect for doing a hula-hoop dance where you swing your hips in a circle. So buy it.

Buy it. If the bow bothers you so much, see if there's a way to take it off.

What, no photocred on the pic? No cred for the amazingly well-framed pic taken on the convenient blackberry? Sheesh. What-the-f-ever.

Remember, artists are 50% ego, 50% blatant insecurity.

When you morph into a star the caliber of Angeline Jolie, I'm gonna sell that motha for millions. Watch me.

I learned a looooooooong time ago that the only thing a man should say is, "I love your dress."

The lessons involved frying-pan-meets-skull, so "I love your dress."

I actually think it's a very cute dress. BUY IT.

i do also think it's actually cute but in an also-fantastic-to-say-you-own-conversation-piece sort of way.

so, yes. buy it. please. and show us a pic of the bow.

immediately.

I am torn, what should you do? If you can pull it off and wear it out, then go ahead, buy it. I would just worry that it would just sit in the closet and never get taken out, but I do that a lot, you probably don't.

I have LOTS of weird stuff in my closet leftover from my days of being an Eclectic Fashion Rebel, so I know how strong the urge to own this dress is. But I voted armadillo, because your mom will never shun you.

On the contrary, I may not shun you but I certainly won't be able to hug you in that dress without suffering bodily harm. I would have voted armadillo if you hadn't put my name in one of the options so I felt obligated to follow your lead.

What a hottie! No question... hands down by the thing... not only do you look great in it but it's a conversation piece... which we all know makes the perfect outfit. And... if you get lost out in the woods you can wash dishes for everyone (just saying).

What... no pic of the bow?

no matter what, you're one gutsy chick!

Do you need to wear a slip with it? That might help.. I love it. And if I had the boobs for it, I'd but it out from under you! ;)

I'm in the minority. I hate the dress. The color is good, but everything else just plain blows. Bubble hem? Travesty! Bow in the back? GAG! Brillo texture? Are you effing kidding me?

You look nice in it though.

I had a "blankie" made out of material like that when I was a little kid. No wonder I came out the way I did.

It won't let me vote. Says I already voted, but I didn't, I swear! :(

P.S. I think it's awesome and you should wear it everywhere.

Buy it. Now. Wear it every day, you totally rock it. Besides, scratchy clothes build character.

This dress would go so perfectly with a very full, sloshing over the sides martini. Make it happen! I'll even make you the martini.
